Check engine light on? Vehicle won't start? Dealing with a misfire, electrical problem, loss of power, rough idle, warning light, or an intermittent problem that another repair hasn't solved? Dustoff Automotive provides systematic automotive diagnostics to determine what is actually causing the problem.
Professional Scan-Tool Testing • Electrical Diagnosis • Mechanical Testing • Mobile Diagnostics Available
A warning light or trouble code is the beginning of a diagnosis, not necessarily the answer. Dustoff Automotive combines scan-tool information with electrical, mechanical, and system testing to isolate the cause of the concern before recommending repairs.
Diagnosis of check engine lights, stored and pending trouble codes, sensor faults, fuel-trim problems, emissions-related faults, and other engine-management concerns.
Diagnosis of vehicles that crank but will not start, do not crank at all, start intermittently, stall after starting, or experience difficult or extended starting.
Troubleshooting of wiring faults, fuses, relays, connectors, grounds, power-supply problems, sensors, actuators, switches, modules, and other electrical concerns.
Diagnosis of cylinder misfires, rough idle, hesitation, vibration, poor acceleration, ignition problems, fuel-delivery problems, vacuum leaks, and mechanical causes of poor running.
Testing for vehicles that feel weak, enter reduced-power or limp modes, hesitate under load, struggle to accelerate, or perform differently at idle than they do on the road.
Battery, starter, alternator, cable, fuse, power-distribution, and ground testing for dead batteries, slow cranking, intermittent starting, and charging-system concerns.
Diagnosis of overheating, coolant loss, cooling-fan problems, thermostat concerns, circulation problems, leaks, and other cooling-system faults.
Electronic and mechanical diagnosis of shifting concerns, delayed engagement, slipping, transmission warning lights, drivetrain noises, and intermittent driveability problems.
Troubleshooting for problems that come and go, occur only when hot or cold, appear under load, happen after extended driving, or cannot be duplicated consistently.
Diagnosis of poor cooling, compressor operation, blower concerns, electrical faults, refrigerant-system problems, sensors, and climate-control system issues.
Diagnostic scanning and troubleshooting for engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, body, chassis, and other electronically controlled vehicle systems.
If parts have already been replaced but the original problem remains, we can approach the vehicle as a new diagnostic case and test the system rather than assuming the previous diagnosis was correct.
Trouble codes and symptoms help point us toward the affected system. The next step is determining why the system is reporting the fault. Our diagnostic process is intended to reduce unnecessary parts replacement and identify the underlying cause whenever practical.
We begin with the customer's symptoms, vehicle history, previous repairs, warning lights, and the conditions under which the problem occurs.
Vehicle systems are scanned for faults and relevant live data, electrical information, visible conditions, and system behavior are evaluated.
Depending on the concern, testing may include electrical measurements, mechanical tests, pressure testing, component activation, circuit testing, or comparison of live data.
Once sufficient evidence identifies the fault, we explain what was found and provide practical repair recommendations before additional work is performed.
Modern vehicles monitor thousands of operating conditions. When the computer detects a condition outside its expected range, it may store a diagnostic trouble code.
That code usually identifies the system, circuit, or operating condition where the problem was detected. It does not always identify the component that caused it.
For example, a lean-condition code could be related to unmetered air, fuel delivery, sensor information, an exhaust leak, wiring, or another mechanical condition. Replacing parts based only on the code can become expensive without fixing the actual problem.
Dustoff Automotive uses the code as one piece of diagnostic information and tests the affected system before recommending parts whenever practical.
Dustoff Automotive works with a broad range of cars, trucks, SUVs, enthusiast vehicles, and project cars. Diagnostic capability varies by vehicle and system, but we regularly work across domestic, European, and Asian platforms.
BMW, MINI, Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and other European vehicles requiring advanced electronic, drivability, or mechanical troubleshooting.
Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Jeep, RAM, Dodge, Chrysler, and other domestic cars, trucks, and SUVs.
Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Mazda, Hyundai, Kia, and other Asian cars, trucks, and SUVs.
Some vehicles cannot easily be brought to the shop. Dustoff Automotive offers mobile diagnostic service throughout Wilmington and the surrounding area for many no-start conditions, electrical problems, battery and charging concerns, warning lights, used-vehicle inspections, and other problems that can be safely diagnosed without a lift or major shop equipment.
Contact us with the vehicle information, location, and symptoms. We can determine whether mobile diagnosis is appropriate or whether the vehicle needs to be transported to the shop for further testing.
Yes. We can scan the vehicle for trouble codes and evaluate relevant system data, then perform additional testing as needed to determine the likely cause of the fault.
Yes. No-start and no-crank diagnosis may involve testing the battery, starter circuit, fuel delivery, ignition, engine management, electrical circuits, security systems, mechanical condition, or other systems depending on the symptoms.
Yes. Mobile diagnostic service is available in Wilmington and the surrounding area for many problems that can be safely evaluated without shop equipment or a vehicle lift.
Not necessarily. A trouble code generally identifies a detected fault, circuit, system, or operating condition. Additional testing may be required to determine why that fault occurred.
Yes. Dustoff Automotive works on European vehicles including BMW, MINI, Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, and other platforms. Diagnostic capability depends on the specific vehicle and system.
We can still diagnose the vehicle. Tell us what was replaced, what testing was previously performed if known, and whether anything changed after the repair. We can evaluate the current condition rather than assuming the previous diagnosis was correct.
If your vehicle has a warning light, won't start, runs poorly, loses power, has an electrical problem, or has an issue that previous repairs haven't solved, send us the vehicle information and symptoms.
Include as much useful information as possible. The year, make, model, mileage, symptoms, warning lights, trouble codes, and previous repairs can help us determine the appropriate diagnostic approach.
